Listed as the 11th best liberal arts college in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, tying with Vassar College .  In addition, CMC ranked third for faculty resources and seventh in admissions selectivity. The College was noted as having the third lowest acceptance rate among liberal arts colleges and among colleges with the highest proportion of classes under 20 students, CMC was ranked tenth. (2008)  U.S. News also ranked CMC 10th in its "Great Schools, Great Prices" list.

*Field Study Seminar – Primero, estudiemos en la clase los Andinas, los Mapuches, y los Incas.  Discubrimos la significa de la luna, el sol, y todas cosas en la naturaleza vienen en parejas.  Por ejemplo, hay bueno y malo, luz y oscuro, etc.  Los Andinas creen que hay un equilibrio que existe en el mundo.  Pachamamma es el nombre para la Madre de la Tierra y es muy importante de su cultura.  Despues, pase algunas semanas con una familia Andina que vive sin electricidad ni banos. Su casa son de la tierra y tenga animales como chivas para comida.  Son todamente dependiente de la tierra para sobrevivir. Escribe un papel de mis experiencias juntos con mi inteligencia de los clases.

*International Politics - international relations theory and history/evolution of the nation-state, definition of sovereignty, different types of realism & liberalism, constructivism theory, war strategy, nuclear strategy, etc.
*Inequality, Politics, & Public Policy - intensive study regarding health care, social security, and the distribution of wealth in our country, theory that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer
*Foreign Relations of the United States - post WWII US-Europe Relations, Marshall Plan, heavy focus on Cold War strategy & mentality, studying everyone from Kissinger to Nixon to Kennedy and all the other prime players, nuclear arms race, etc.
*Comparative Government - comparing the organizational structure, theory, and practice of US government compared to European (France, Great Britain , Germany , Italy , etc.) , Asian ( China , Russia , Japan , etc.) and all other prominent forms of government
*Public Debate on Globalization – the driver of our world and economy since my days in high school.  A thorough study of the advantages and potential downfalls that we are seeing today in a globalized economy.  The disappearance of the middle class, loss of sovereignty, free trade agreements like NAFTA and how they affect local industries on both ends of the spectrum, International Organizations such as the IMF, World Bank, NATO, and other NGO's.  The European Union and its problems, the Euro, etc.
*Government & Politics of East Asia – lecture series where we were blessed with speakers from important posts in Asian countries' governments ( China , Japan , Hong Kong , South Korea , etc.)

*The
Middle East in Modern Times – a comprehensive history of the Arab peoples, with study focused on the different kings & empires that ruled throughout history and the importance of Islam and an in depth study of its origins and impact.  Mesopotamia to Iraq Palestine to Israel .  Understanding what drives each regime in the Middle East .
*European Social HistoryIntensive study of the French Revolution and all its complexities. History of plagues, famine and diseases that affected Europe .   Origin of life on the European continent…..in reverse order lol
*20th Century African American Urban Historystudy of African American life in cities such as LA & San Francisco, urban design and development along color lines, jazz music and its relevance, Black Panthers, etc.
*Questions of CivilizationSocrates to Freud and everyone in between.  Answering the basic questions of humanity, life and civilization.  Where I learned "The unexamined life is not worth living" at all and embraced it as one of my personal philosophies.
*Shakespeare's TragediesWho doesn't love Shakespeare?  This was a great chance to read some of the offbeat tragedies that didn't gain the popularity of his other plays.  It was also a look into Shakespeare, the man, and what we know/do not know about his life.
*History of Philosophyall the greats and some not so great.  People who knew what was up and some who sat around and did too little and wrote too much.  Philosophy wasn't necessarily my favorite area of study, but I do like seeing how philosophy is impacted by the history of the age and vice versa, how history is impacted by philosophy.  Perfect case in point: Marxism.
*History of CaliforniaHistory of the Gold Rush and industry (discriminatory laws against Native Americans & Asians), Father Junipero Serra & the 21 California Missions, Mexican and Spanish significance, Urban design and development of California, Dust Bowl & sojourners who headed west, and California as a melting pot for type A personalities breaking away from the norm
Religious Thoughttheories and arguments for and against a monotheistic God, St. Thomas Aquinas among many others, history of all the major religions and their basis for worship, polytheism, pantheism, panentheism, etc.
*Environmental Science – how the environment relates to public policy, land laws & governmental regulations
* Senior Thesis in History – Wrote 85 pages of research and narrative proving my claim that Chile 's "hangover" or "scar tissue" from its turbulent past (living 18 years under a military dictatorship installed by the US ) prevent it from fully being able to embrace the opportunities of the present.
